EXCOM Teleconference Meeting Minutes
November 8, 2011

Officer Reports -
President – Mark Celedonia: Working on website and looking for teleconferencing options.
President Elect – John Morgan: 2012 AGM info has been posted on the chapter website.
Vice President – Brian Missildine: Finished up Green Committee report for 2011 AFS. Looking at locations for 2013 AGM; Yakima is off the list.
Past President – Mark Pedersen: Working with John to get 2012 AGM going. Organizing the Chapter BBQ which will be on Jan 21st, although the venue has not been decided.
Treasurer – Emily Pizzichemi: Has the up to date info on all three accounts. Reimbursement checks are in the mail. Mark C is still trying to get signed onto the accounts; some internal issues with the bank have slowed things down.
Secretary – Lisa Harlan: Got retreat draft minutes distributed, helped get Green committee report finished.
Communications Officers– Orlay Johnson / Stephanie Caballero: Orlay is working on getting items for newsletter. Needs officer reports by Nov 18th. Also would like any other news items. He is working with students from Seattle U but there are not enough to form their own unit, so they are looking into forming an affiliate with UW or joining the UW sub-unit. Pink and Chum conference coming up in Feb 12-13, 2012. Website for 2012 AGM could be darker (more contrast). Orlay will be giving a MAST talk in a couple weeks.
Student Sub-Unit Representative – Chris Clark: Western Wash U Chapter is expanding. Planning a beach clean-up. Looking to set up a chapter at ???. Would like to get a list of WA-BC students and sub-unit list and try to organize a gathering.
Committee Reports
2012 AGM UVic Planning Committee (John) – 1st call for symposia (session) has gone out. Looking to populate committee list. Wants to send out 1st call for papers pretty soon. Brian is main contact for just WABC AFS. Website is very slow – John has talked to Bryan Bougher. Excom – Review the AGM site and forward comments to John who will compile and send to Bryan.
Website Redesign (Mark C) – Has gathered some info on a couple website designers. Found one in Olympia that specializes in non-profits and small businesses, very reasonable rates. Current goal is to have new website ready by AGM – possibly do preview at Business Mtg.
Unfinished Business:
Teleconferencing options – (Mark C) – Looking at different options for teleconferencing. Free services are available but not with a toll-free number. There are two kinds of pay services – pay-as-you-go or flat rate with unlimited minutes but limits on callers. We were paying about $60/mth for Webex. There is a plan that would be $40/mth for 10 people, $50/mth for 20 people.
Pacific Marine Expo – Pacific Marine Expo is coming up. Parking and attendance passes are available.
FY2012 Budget – (Mark C) – Question arose on whether there is a dollar amount that might jeopardize non-profit status – Emily will check into it. Line item added into expenses for 1-day workshops. Mark C would like ideas for other ways to spend money.
Support for BC student subunit that is in early stages of forming – Ball is in their court. Mark P will check in with them.
New Business:
CCFFR/SWS New Brunswick mtg sponsorship (Pedersen email 10/28) – General consensus is that it is not closely related to WABC. Mark P will respond to them declining their request.
Announcements:
WA-BC Chapter Salmon Barbeque Celebration. – Tentative date set for January 21.
