AFS 2011 – Invitation to Contribute

Welcome to the 141st Annual Meeting of the American Fisheries Society, September 4-8, 2011 in Seattle, at the Washington State Convention Center. This is a regional, national, and international conference of the highest excellence and impact on the long-term sustainability of fisheries resources, and will attract over 3,500 attendees. We are asking organizations, businesses, and agencies involved or interested in fisheries resource management, marine and aquatic habitat protection, and fisheries-related recreation to contribute to this important activity.

The meeting theme “New Frontiers in Fisheries Management and Ecology: Leading the Way in a Changing World” could not be more appropriate. Seattle is a vibrant center of fisheries-related culture, economy, and society, and home to federal, state, tribal, and academic fisheries science and management institutions, and numerous fisheries stakeholder groups.

Distinguished plenary speakers will address the meeting theme. The technical portion of the conference consists of symposia, contributed talks and a large poster session. The program also includes Continuing Education Workshops and an exciting Trade Show. Networking opportunities will be bountiful at four stimulating social events.

The American Fisheries Society provides the world with the highest caliber of fisheries science outreach and information. AFS members include a broad spectrum of professionals employed by private and public resource management entities and colleges and universities throughout the continent and in 75 countries. Numerous students participate in all aspects of the conference.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at all levels – see the benefits for sponsors on the next page. Sponsorship and Trade Show applications are enclosed for your convenience. You may also contribute online.
